As this publication was designed and went to print before the
exhibition was mounted, it wasn’t possible to include images of the
exhibition itself. Instead, this catalogue contains images (more of
which can be seen in the exhibition) that were taken whilst materials
for the exhibition were being collected. They were taken on the many
visits to print and production companies, locations that on a daily
basis churn out hundreds of thousands of printed materials. They
are images of places to which the general public don’t normally have
access. Places that are full of fascination because of the spectacular
machinery that they house and of the enormous quantities of
paper, card and ink and other materials that they consume. As such
they are an integral component of the ‘graphic forest’, showing
part of the hidden industry that lies behind graphic production. |
